Charcoal costs £6 per bag.

We make charcoal throughout the summer here in the woods.  All our charcoal is made from hardwoods to provide the best quality.

The charcoal kiln is moved around the woods to where we are working.  It is carefully filled with seasoned wood to ensure an even burn.  

We make a small fire to light it and then the burn is monitored and managed over night and into the next day.  

The kiln stays hot for a couple of days.  When it has cooled we empty it by hand and fill the charcoal bags.

Moreton Wood is a beautiful 38 acre woodland in Herefordshire sustainably managed for conservation and bio-diversity.  

All the woodland work is undertaken with minimum impact on the flora and fauna of the woodland.  Hand tools are used where possible and a horse is used to do all the logging. 
 
Timber that is removed for the good of the woodland ecology is used to make beautiful, individual hand made products.
